In 1939 Giuseppe Olmo, known as ‘Gepìn’, founded Olmo Biciclette: in just a few years the highest performing and technically advanced competition bicycles of the period came out of the factory in Celle Ligure, tested directly by ‘Gepìn’ and ready to be ridden in triumph by professional cyclists. Olmo stands out for the high quality and innovation of its products, quickly becoming a beacon in the cycling world. Giuseppe Olmo, born in Celle Ligure in 1911, was not only a great entrepreneur, he was also previously a great champion: he won two Milan-San Remo races, in 1935 and 1938, as many as twenty stages in the Giro d’Italia and an Olympic title as well as setting the hour record. When he won the second Milano-Sanremo, in 1939, the first bikes were already coming out of the factory in Celle Ligure. His life had taken the direction of entrepreneurship, first in the field of bicycles and then also in the production of tyres, tubulars and plastic polymers’.
